TOP MANAGEMENT

The efficient management system at The Jamaica Livestock Association is perhaps the single most important reason for their continuous success.  The association is administered by a Board of Directors, elected by its members.

*     The Managing Director is responsible for the commercial and daily operations and is supported by select working committees.

*     These committees comprise several farmers drawn from parishes around the island, who combine their talents to ensure that standards and guidelines are met.

*     Team work and expertise, is therefore essential to the dynamic operation of the JLA and a sure guarantee for sustained growth and continued viability.

THE ROLE OF THE WORKING COMMITTEES

Within the JLA, are a number of key bodies which represent specific areas of interests in the livestock industry as a whole.  Committees bring together experience and expertise in improved animal husbandry and transfer these techniques to farmers to help them get the most profitable results.  They were also actively involved in the prolonged negotiations for decontrol of prices in the agricultural sector.

Likewise, the Committees are constantly seeking ways to improve on present – day conditions within the industry wherever possible, whether through negotiations or through Programmes on Feeding, Management and Marketing.
